Submitted by Nassir Mashkouri on Fri, 06/20/2008 - 18:32.

"I started rapping when I was around 13 and by the time I was 16 I started to perform at nightclubs and rap at competitions. I won the UK freestyle battle championships in 2000, I used to enter a lot of battle rap competitions like the one seen in the film "8 Mile" but after a while I decided to focus more on recording tracks and releasing songs. I got together with my group, Poisonous Poets in 2002. We released a CD called "poisonous poetry" and after that I also released a single with a video called "What estate r u from?""

ZZ: Can you please tell us little bit about yourself.
Pouya Mahmoodi I was born in Tehran year 1973. At the age of 10 I started playing guitar by the encouragement of my father. At the age of 11 I went to France and for two years I was away from my family. I started developing a special relationship with this instrument as it could calm me during that period and would keep me occupied. I returned to Iran and had to learn how to read notes and with the push of my mother, a private teacher was hired. But I never managed connecting with my teacher as my relationship with the instrument was very special and thus my behavior a bit strange.
