A chat with Esfand Pormand , music critique and the former guitar player/ vocalist in the Punk/ rock band "Landlord"

Submitted by Nassir Mashkouri on Sat, 04/28/2007 - 21:14.

Z.Z: What's up Esfand-jan?

Nassir Jan, things are going really well these days… I have been listening to an excessive amount of Leonard Cohen and have been tapping into the electronic genre these days. Also I have immersed myself into my solo project and letting all my influence these days dictate the flow of the project. Needless to say it's a mixture of electronica, dance, and rock with a Persian attitude… Also for the first time I have been involved with other bands and working on remixes for them, hopefully soon you'll hear of these remixes and the artists I have been working with… more to come

We are currently in New York. It's so beautiful over here. We've only been here for a week and we're already in love with the people and city.

An interview with Farzad Ajory, guitar player and Iranian prog/ rocker

Submitted by Nassir Mashkouri on Wed, 03/28/2007 - 01:23.

Z.Z: Dear Farzad, tell us about your self and your musical background?

I began my work from my young age with a classical guitar and as I was interested in rock and metal music I bought myself an electric guitar. I began my professional activities with a very good guitar player who didn't want to be known in Iranian music community. I listened to music about 6 to 8 hours a day, it lead me to my path in music. Continual practice and inventive styles of my master together with “Troy Stetina" helped me to have a lot of progress in the field of playing. Then I began to cover the works of the great men of rock music such as "Joe Satriani", "Kirk Hammet" etc, I did my best to encourage all the dimensions in playing. I improvise solo's at least 2 hours a day, and then I choose my melodies from amongst them into notes.
