Z.Z: let's talk about your album "Green Dream". Is it your first album?

Yes, it is.

Z.Z: How long did it take to make this album?

During my residence in
Germany I wrote some songs and played them sometimes on stage, solo as well as with other musicians. The people have asked me if I had them recorded. Therefore I thought that I should record them someday to make money!!
I went back to
Iran to visit my family and friends; as I was there I met "Shervin Najafian" who was beginning to record music with a few friends in a small ton studio in Tehran. So we started to record the songs, I was sitting in the studio, playing guitar and simultaneously singing the words. Shervin did some Drum machines, played guitar on them and... it was just the beginning.
As I came back to
Munich, I was not in my skin anymore. I was infected with a very bad virus! I wanted to make it better as much as I could. I went back to Tehran, Shervin and "Taraneh Studio". We began to complete the album. After three months staying in Tehran my limit was over. I took, what I had record and came back to Munich. Here, I started to work on it in a ton studio, and it took me four months until the album was finished.
So back to your question; it took altogether one year, more or less.

Z.Z: How can you describe the style of it?

It is a very difficult question!
I must say that I am very loyal and closed to the words that I sing. I've tried to make a mood with my music, which describes each Text.
This album covers all the music that I love or loved before in some period of my life. Meanwhile I am an open-minded man and I listen to very different Styles of music from Indian classic music to Jazz and Boss nova and all of them make me happy. You find Latino, Rock or Jazz- Style and in another piece you find yourself sitting in a fuckin´ Italian Bar hearing Mandolin and Mandocello and some one sings some Farsi words at the same time.
Let me say they are green dreams of a mad man who thinks he can find his audience in this crazy world.

Z.Z: Who are some of the musicians that have helped you on making and recording the "Green Dream"?

I must say without their help I wasn't being able to make my dream come true.
Although it will be a long list, but I use this opportunity to appreciate them for the great time I've had with them.
The first one I'd like to name is as I mentioned is Shervin Najafian a very talented musician, who brought me to the point to produce this album in this format. He plays Nylon String Guitar and E.Piano on "Stony wall" (Diware Sangi), Reza Tajbakhsh a remarkable musician, who sequenced three pieces of this album, plays E.Piano, E.Bass on "Apple" (Sibe Golab), "Due to Love" (Az Doost Dashtan) and "Green Dream" (Royaie Sabz). Behrang Ajdari: E.Bass, Ehsan Jahandideh: Harmonica, Sadri Taheri: E.Guitar, Homaioun Nassiri: Drums and Percussions, my dear cousin Behnam Salehi on Daf, my little sister Ayat: Back vocals and the sweet Alma Samimi Mofakham: Back vocals.
Here in Munich, Geoff Goodman a brilliant New Yorker jazz musician who plays E.Guitar on "Green Dream" and Mandolin and Mandocello on "Apple", Ro Clausman: E.Guitar, Thomas Gschrey: alto Sax and Johann Bengen: Drums and Percussions.
And: Mohammad Kalhor and Wolfgang Obrecht are responsible for the Sound engineering.

Z.Z: Tel us a little about your musical background?

My first encounter with the music was at the age of 5, when my parents send me to the Carl-Orff music school in "Ourmieh", where my family residence at the time because of my Father's job. In
Tehran I began to play Piano and Keyboard at the age of 14. I was enchanted with the sound of Spanish Guitar and one day as I was 19 I sold my Piano stealthy without any Permissons from my Parrents, who were very proud of their son, playing piano!
I bought a very falsh spanish guitar and take some Lessons from a very stupid guitar teacher! Then I found Farid Raoufi a very nice man who teached me pic Style and Classic Guitar. I changed my guitar and learned Classic Guitar by Farid for I think 3 years until I saw a video from the great Paco DeLucia. I thought I must play his music. So I started to learn Flamenco Guitar with Shahin Alavi and after some years, I was able to know that it is impossible to play like Paco. Then I started to select the music which suits me best. I’ve participated in a lot of music Seminars and workshops and I am very hungry to learn more here and there.

Z.Z: Have you written all the songs on the album?

Yes, except "Az Doost Dashtan" from great "Forough Farrokhzad" which fascinated me with her description of her feeling of love and "Diware Sangi" from my "Amoo Jan" Masoud jafari Jozani, the Filmmaker, which is written with all his heart.

Z.Z: One of the most brilliant songs on the album, in my opinion is the "The train of freedom". Tell us about it.

Thanks for the Question. As you know about 5 years ago, the Iranian students protested of the streets for their rights and more Freedom. Although I am about 8 years abroad, I can understand them very good because of similar or worse experiences as a student in
Iran. The Protest went I think 10 days long. I can remember when I came home, I was sitting at the TV and Internet watching what is happened with them. Abrupt in international Media there was no News from them. They were alone, helpless and frustrated. It has worked me over, so it began with: my Train go ahead, don't stop...

Z.Z: Any concert soon?

I was very lucky to work with some good musicians on my new project.
Our acoustic Quintet consisted of two acoustic Nylon Strings Guitars, Sax, Conterbass and Percussions.
As you know we were on stage a few days ago.
We have been invited to take part at TollWood music Festival in
Munich in June, some another Gigs in Munich_Clubs and waiting for another opportunities to make music on stage and have fun with the audience.

Z.Z: Are you working on your next album?

I think my next Album would be a Live Album from the Songs in my new Project.
I have some new Songs recorded in Studio plus some recorded Songs from Green Dream which got difficulties with their Text-writer. I hope that some day I could write new Texts on them, because I think the music was very successful. But it makes me more handle with care and handicap to write new one. May be some one else could help me on this way.

Z.Z: Could you give us some names of the Iranian musicians or bands that you think they are worthy our attention?

There are many talented musicians in
Iran, I had the chance to work with some of them as I mentioned above. But as you know they have no possibility to publish their music. I know that there are some good musicians who aren't intended to work in this situation. What I can maybe add to your List are "Raz-e Shab", "Kamran Jahanbani" and "Peter Soleimanipour".
